Spring is just around the corner and that means April Showers will be upon us. Heavy rains will put your gutters to the test so its time to make certain they are in good working order.
Gutters need to be clean and functioning to help prevent wet basements and crawl space areas. Here's your gutter checklist.
Clear all leaves and debris.
Repair leaking seams.
Re-secure loose gutter mounts.
Make certain the downspout extensions direct the water a good distance from the foundation. A general rule of thumb is 4 to 6 feet.
Remember, gutters that overflow are a common cause of wet basements and crawl space areas and can also lead to foundation failures. Keep those gutters clean!
